Best
Practices in BPM Solution Selection |
 |
|
Is
your organization considering investing
in BPM software? If so, you know the challenges.
Buying BPM software is difficult. Two recent
surveys confirm it. Because many organizations
do not use best practices when evaluating
and selecting BPM software, their implementations
fail to meet key objectives. Business Finance
and Business Performance Management magazines
have joined with BPM Partners to provide
select companies with best practices in
buying BPM software -- education, guidance,
methodology, a complete requirements review,
and identification of "best fit" vendors.
These vendor finalists will present customized
demos based on your organization's unique
needs. A scoring tool will be utilized to
help you cut through the marketing hype
to select exactly the right solution. This
exciting program is available at absolutely
no cost as part of the BPM Solution
Selection Symposium, a new track at the
BPM Summit taking place this year November
14-15 in Greenwich, CT.

Steps to Improve Planning and Budgeting |
 |
|
For many organizations, planning and budgeting
is an annual ritual. Once a year a letter
goes out from corporate describing the company's
expectations, shortly followed by a budget
pack to be completed by a predefined date.
Once packs are completed and returned the
annual negotiation begins in earnest. Eventually
the negotiations conclude and the budget
is set for the next twelve months and everyone
breaths a sigh of relief and finally gets
back to running the business again. It doesn't
have to be this way.

In the BPM world Financial Consolidation
has long taken a back seat to Budgeting
and Planning and Dashboards. That is now
changing, at least in the vendor community.
Applix recently released
TM1 Financial Consolidation to complement
its Planning Manager. OutlookSoft
has significantly enhanced its
consolidation capabilities, as has Hyperion
. With its acquisition of Frango
several months back Cognos
may have initiated this new focus on Consolidation.
Geac has made its consolidation
module faster and easier to use. Cartesis
released a brand new version of
their flagship consolidation product. Planning
is not being completely ignored: Cartesis
just acquired INEA to
strengthen the budgeting side of their offering.
